History
Adaptive Launch Solutions (ALS) is a Small Disadvantaged Business (SDB) that provides pico, nano, micro, mini, and small satellites full launch integration services on Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV), Medium Launch Vehicles (MLVs) and Small Launch Vehicles (SLVs).
Beginning in 2010, ALS in cooperation with United Launch Alliance (ULA), Office of Space Launch (OSL), and NASA worked to enable science and technology missions gain access to available space through multi-manifesting small satellites on US Government Manifested launches. During that period, ALS began developing auxiliary satellite mission designs, mechanical and avionic systems, as well as engineering analysis and integration procedures for multi-manifest mission success.
The A-Deck Structure, Adapters, and Auxiliary Payload Support Unit (APSU) went through full component qualification testing from 2010 to December 2015. Aerospace Corporation performed independent verification and validation (IV&V) review as the responsible contractor for the US Government launch systems. Along the course of this extensive qualification process, Adaptive Launch Solutions received a US Patent (US 8,608,114B2) for the flight system including the APSU on December 17, 2013. This ALS designed avionics sequencer flew in September 2021 supporting the US Space Force with the NASA Landsat 9 mission as the multi-manifest satellite deployment sequencer for the secondary payloads aboard the launch.
In 2018, ALS partnered with Parsons Government Services to win the US Space Force’s Launch Manifest System Integration (LMSI) program and has successfully launched four multi-manifest missions with a backlog of missions extending until 2025.
